Welcome to Divvies battr!

Welcome to Divvies battr! a safe destination on the web designed to light up your screen with creative ideas, helpful tips and expert advice on how to live a wonderful life while dealing with food allergies. We like to think of the battr as an on-line“magazine” that we can all have a hand in growing into something that really meets our needs as parents, friends and children with food allergies.

For the past two years my husband Mark and I have been working diligently to create a line of safe treats that would be so delicious everyone (with or without food allergies) would want to share them. As these treats began to be gobbled up all over the country, we started to get wonderful feedback ... but the greatest treat for us was that we got to get to know all of you, those feedback-givers!  We then realized that part of the “product” of our efforts was a gathering of a great group of concerned and thoughtful parents, teachers, coaches, neighbors and kids who were conscientious about making life with food allergies delectable...in every way. We want the battr to be that sweet spot where we can all learn, share and laugh together.

Living in a house with three very active boys and working 'round the clock nurturing a new business that is the quintessential labor of love, I find myself pulled in many directions. But the centrifugal force that always pulls all the Sandlers back in place is a strong sense of family.  Our youngest son, Benjamin has severe food allergies which brought a new dimension and purpose to our family. We all work to make his life happy and to feel included, and in turn we are inspired and awed by how he makes us laugh and always approaches challenges with the most positive and caring attitude. We all watched him in action when he made cupcakes with Martha Stewart, Tuesday, January 29th and explained how certain typical ingredients are left out because these confections were made for everyone to share.

Our approach to the battr is inspired by Benjamin’s approach to life. So it is with his same thoughtful, caring, positive attitude we share Divvies battr with you every month.

  1. Featured Articles: These articles cover topics of interest to our community and dole out equal parts tips and smiles.
  2. battr up: This is Benjamin’s spot where he goes to bat for all those with food allergies and shares an insider’s point of view.
  3. Seeing Dr. Spotts: Dr. Jules Spotts, Ph.D. a psychologist with many years experience working with children and families, answers questions pertaining to the psychological impact of food allergies.
  4. Wax Paper: This is your “page” to pass along ideas and thoughts, either in response to something you read in the battr, or just sharing your own insight, tips, recipes.
  5. Newsletter: Signing up for the battr condensed sends each issue of the battr to you in your inbox in an abbreviated form to keep you in the mix. If you want to read more, just click the link and it will take you to Divvies battr.

With baking, what comes out of the oven depends on the wonderful ingredients that go into the batter. My goal for Divvies battris to provide delectable and good-for-you information that you will want to share with others. I hope that you will be inspired to have your hand in the battr too by sharing your positive tips with our very special battr community. The thoughtful and inspired ingredients we all pour into the battr together will make living with food allergies that much more delicious.

P.S. We were so complimented to be asked to appear on Martha Stewart's show and so grateful to have the opportunity to introduce her viewers to some of the issues and some sweet solutions surrounding food allergies.  I have supplied the link to Martha Stewart's website in case you want to contact her and let her know how much you appreciate the fact that she devoted a segment of her show to this timely and pertinent topic.
